This is not a bowl. This is a statement about what is possible with wood, patience, and an obsessive commitment to precision.

The Master Series open segmented bowl is built from 300 to 400 individually hand-cut walnut and cherry segments — each one measured, angled, and fitted to a tolerance of less than one millimeter. The result is a lattice wall so fine and so intricate that it reads as lace from across a room and as engineering up close.

Every segment is cut from premium American black walnut and cherry hardwood — selected for grain consistency and color contrast so the alternating dark and warm tones create maximum visual impact in the finished piece. The gaps between segments are calculated and uniform throughout, creating a pattern that is both mathematically precise and organically alive.

What Makes This Piece Exceptional

The open segmented form at this segment count is among the most technically demanding work a woodturner can produce. At 300 to 400 segments, the margin for error at any single joint is essentially zero. One segment cut at the wrong angle propagates through the entire ring. One ring out of flat by a fraction of a millimeter shows in the finished piece. There is no hiding the work at this level — everything is visible, every joint exposed, every gap on display.

This bowl passed through more than 30 hours of design, cutting, fitting, gluing, turning, and finishing before it was ready to leave the shop.

Natural Wood: Wood is a natural material. Grain variation, color variation, and minor natural characteristics are inherent to the material and are not defects. Every piece is one of a kind.

Made to order in my North Carolina workshop. Lead time is 3 to 4 weeks due to the complexity of construction. A 50% deposit is required at order with the balance due before shipment. Deposit is non-refundable once production begins.
